School Holidays Gippsland Farm Tours

If you're looking for something fun to do with your kids during the July school holidays that doesn't involve iPads, queues or draining the bank account, then join us for some family fun on our farm in beautiful East Gippsland. As a special free event during the school holidays guests staying at either Jetty Road Retreat or Country House Retreat are invited to spend time on the Kleinitz family farm to meet the animals, collect the eggs from our chooks, pat Elmo the miniature horse and learn all about farm life.

The farm is located nextdoor to Country House Retreat and just a short drive from Jetty Road Retreat. Grass-fed beef are raised on the farm and we have 160 head of cattle. The cows are calving during winter so it's always lovely to wander around the paddocks this time of year and meet all the cute new arrivals! As third generation farmers we have a wealth of stories and experiences to share with you plus our very own historical museum with a few surprises.

After the farm tour we'll gather around the fire to cook some damper (for the little kids) and enjoy some billy tea and scones (for the big kids).

Farm tours are exclusive to guests staying at Jetty Road Retreat and Country House Retreat over the July 2017 school holidays. Tours are complimentary and will operate each Saturday and Sunday over the holidays from 1:00pm - 2:30pm (weather permitting). Alternative days and times may be possible (subject to availability of our farmer!) but bookings are essential.

To book your farm tour simply call us on 03 5156 3224 or email us once you have booked your accommodation at Jetty Road Retreat or Country House Retreat.

Other family friendly activities nearby during the school holidays include koala spotting on Raymond Island and a visit to Buchan Caves, which offer tours to caves rarely open to the public during the holidays. To enjoy more of the great outdoors pack your bikes and hit the East Gippsland Rail Trail. With up to 96kms of grade 1-2 track to choose from, it's a fantastic trail to explore with kids who will love the adventure of riding over historic wooden trestle bridges past lakes, bushland and valleys. The Discovery Trail is also very close by and well suited to younger riders and beginners. Kayaking and fishing from our private jetty at Jetty Road Retreat are also lots of fun with kids who will surely be the envy of their friends after the school holidays are over!
